Pilot-batch CNC machined housings
The first housings in a pilot batch establish geometry and inspection requirements before the remaining quantity is released. Each part number needs a drawing revision, stock or casting specification and first-article approval evidence.

Release one controlled housing revision at a time
Each housing variant and any turned mating part needs its own quantity and controlled drawing. Shared interfaces, material and machining setup are recorded for each item.
| Feature | Drawing requirements | Acceptance checks |
|---|---|---|
| Part & revision list | For each part number, provide the approved drawing revision, material grade and condition, finish, and the person authorized to approve changes. Identify any process required by the specification. We review the manufacturing route and confirm it in the quotation. | Approved drawing per part number. |
| Matched interfaces | Use the BOM to identify mating components and their drawing revisions. Define shared fits and controlling dimensions on the part or assembly drawings. | Shared-interface fits checked against the referenced part or assembly drawings. |
| Release quantities | Give the quantity and requested release date for each part. Agree first-article checks, later sampling, traceability, batch control, release records, reporting and nonconforming-part handling. Forecast demand is separate from the order. | First-article checks, sampling and release records. |
Moving from the first housing to the released batch
We review the first housing to establish mounting and cavity checks for that revision. The release plan records the approval needed to make the remaining parts and how drawing changes affect work already started.
State whether each housing starts from stock or a supplied casting and who provides that input. Agree release quantities, the production schedule and inspection records in the order.
A mixed-part order may combine milling, turning, 5-axis and secondary casting machining. Shared fixture standards and revision control help organize the work across the parts list.
Pilot builds and high-mix, low-volume orders need a controlled part list. Identify the housing variants, first-article checks and quantities released after approval.
