Pilot-run CNC machined components
Each part number in a turned-component pilot run needs its own material, drawing revision and release quantity. Shared setups and mating interfaces can be considered together while each profile keeps its approval and inspection requirements.

The part list behind the repeated forms
Each component needs a drawing and parts-list entry recording its working diameters, shared mating interfaces and release quantity. Differences between similar profiles must remain identifiable.
| Feature | Drawing requirements | Acceptance checks |
|---|---|---|
| Material per component | Assign a material grade, condition and finish to each part, with component-specific material records rather than one material for the whole batch. | Material records per component. |
| Revision control | Identify each part number, approved drawing revision, matched components, shared interfaces and changes between releases. Record the approved baseline and change authority. State functional requirements and identify components that must fit together. | Approved baseline and change authority. |
| Inspection per release | Give release quantities and requested dates. Agree initial approval evidence, first-article checks and report contents, production features to check, later sampling, traceability and nonconforming-part handling for each batch. Forecast demand is separate from the order. | First approval, sampling and traceability per release. |
Coordinating turned-part setups across releases
We plan programs, workholding and inspection for each turned profile and drawing revision. Secondary holes or flats may need a separate operation on particular parts.
Agree first-part approval and later sampling by part number and release. Keep forecast demand separate from confirmed order quantities, production dates and capacity commitments.
Each part needs its own program and fixtures. Setup changes across a high-mix, small-batch order are part of production planning.
For medical equipment, automation and instrumentation, control each pilot-run part by drawing revision, material and release quantity. Include the inspection and application-specific records required before release.
