Plastic CNC Machining Services
We machine plastic guides, insulators and housings without a molding tool. The polymer grade must suit the loads, temperature and moisture exposure while maintaining the required fit.

Insulators, guides & polymer housings
For a plastic guide, insulator or housing, we review the working surfaces and fit under service conditions. The polymer choice must also account for the stock condition, required properties and assembly loads.

Custom machined plastic parts
Milled and turned polymer parts with mating features.

Circular CNC machined plastic components
A circular polymer form with central and perimeter holes. Define the working faces and assembly loads.
Polymer selection and dimensional stability
Wear, chemical exposure, insulation and temperature requirements narrow the polymer choice. Temperature change and moisture uptake can also change dimensions, with the effect depending on the grade and conditions. We review the grade, fillers and measurement state against those service requirements.
- A guide, bushing or sliding interface
- Compare POM and nylon grades against the load and fit
- Contact pressure, motion and temperature affect wear and deformation. For moisture-sensitive nylon, specify conditioning and review the fit under the intended service load and environment.
- An insulator or chemically exposed component
- The specific medium and material requirements
- Electrical behavior, chemical resistance and temperature limits depend on the polymer and grade. Fillers can change properties, so a general plastic name is not a sufficient specification.
- Close fits in changing temperature or humidity
- Dimensional stability and measurement conditions
- Thermal expansion and moisture uptake vary by polymer. Conditioning and measurement temperature need to match the acceptance plan; nylon and other moisture-sensitive grades deserve particular review.
| Material / scope | Specification | Finish / treatment | Confirm for this drawing |
|---|---|---|---|
| PEEK, PTFE & polyimide | Specify exact grade, fillers and stock condition. | Machined surfaces, controlled edges and agreed cleaning. | State temperature, chemical exposure and documentation needs. |
| Nylon & acetal | Nylon / PA6 / PA66; POM (acetal). Specify a Delrin grade if required. | Deburred edges and defined mating surfaces. | Agree moisture conditioning and fitted dimensions. |
| PE, PP & PVC | HDPE, UHMW, PP or PVC, with the exact grade specified. | Machined surface and edge requirements. | Include loads, thin sections and the measurement state. |
| Acrylic, PC & ABS | Specify the polymer grade and any appearance requirements. | Discuss visible faces and acceptable machining marks. | Specify the exact polymer grade, fillers and required material properties. |
A PTFE part and a Teflon-coated metal part are different specifications. Specify the substrate and any separate coating or covering.
Material and finish checklistSupport the working features

Clamping can deflect a plastic part before cutting begins. Low-stress workholding, thin-wall support and temperature control help establish a suitable machining plan, especially around press fits, inserts and deep pockets.
Blind holes limit tool access differently from through-holes. Insert interfaces and the surrounding walls also carry assembly loads, so the hole depths, wall sections and mating components are reviewed together.
A fit measured after machining can change with temperature or moisture exposure. The acceptance plan therefore identifies temperature, moisture and conditioning; electrical, food-contact and medical requirements need separate documents or tests.
Machined polymer forms
Long stepped parts, intermediate forms and slotted or drilled PEEK components each need suitable support and cutter access. We review the exact material grade and performance requirements for each part number.

Accept the part in its agreed condition
Hole position, flatness and mating dimensions depend on the measurement state of the polymer. The order sets conditioning, temperature, support, measurement methods and required records.

| Feature | Specify on the drawing | Agree before production |
|---|---|---|
| Polymer & stock condition | Grade, fillers, stock condition and any required material documents. | Confirm material availability and documentation responsibility. |
| Fits, walls & inserts | Press fits, inserts, hole positions, thin walls, deep pockets and assembly loads. | Dimensional and flatness measurement methods, records and acceptance limits at the specified temperature, moisture and conditioning state. |
| Functional requirements | Operating temperature, moisture, chemicals and intended use. | Electrical, food-contact or medical requirements need separate documents or tests. |
Are medical or food-contact requirements included?
Request the required material documentation or tests explicitly. Availability, scope and responsibility must be confirmed for the application.
