Plan the shipment of CNC parts

Include the destination and packing requirements when requesting a quote. Production and transit take separate time, and the arrival date also depends on who arranges transport.

Protection and identification

Part protection
Mark cosmetic faces, seals, threads and fragile edges, with any cleanliness or corrosion-protection requirements. The packing plan needs to separate and protect parts in cartons or wooden cases within the pack-weight and handling limits.
Labels
Specify part number, revision, batch and quantity per pack. Match the available label and record formats to the packing list.

Timing and responsibility

Production and arrival
Production takes 7 to 14 business days after drawing and order confirmation, including finishing. Transit time is additional. Specify required arrival and dispatch dates, address and receiving contact.
Trade term and costs
The quotation should name the trade term, its version and the agreed place. Confirm who arranges and pays for transport, clearance and insurance, including duties, taxes and local delivery. EXW, FOB or DDP applies as quoted. DDP is included only when the quotation says so.
Transport mode
Courier, air or sea arrangements depend on shipment size and destination. DHL, FedEx or UPS can be discussed when selecting a courier.

Shipment and import documents

The shipment needs a packing list, commercial invoice and shipment information using consistent part, revision and order references. Material, finish and dimensional records accompany the order when agreed.

Settle additional procurement and customs documents with your importing entity or freight forwarder before production. Requirements depend on the destination and transaction.

Compare the delivery term and named place

Two freight figures can cover different responsibilities. The trade term, version and named place need to be read together with the quotation. ICC’s Incoterms 2020 checklist distinguishes delivery arrangements including responsibility for import clearance and duties under DAP and DDP.

The order still needs the agreed documents and destination details. A term in an inquiry is a requested basis for quotation; the accepted quotation records what the supplier will provide. DDP is included only when specifically quoted.

Protect the working interfaces through unpacking

A machined housing may need its sealing rim kept separate from neighboring parts. A shaft may need protection at the working journal and threaded end. For plastic components, support and pack weight should avoid distorting the features that will be checked on arrival.

Receiving labels and documents should let the buyer connect each package to its part number, revision and quantity. The required material, finish and dimensional records need the same order references. Confirm the packing material and any destination-specific requirements with the importing team or freight forwarder before dispatch.

Record an arrival discrepancy before changing the part

Receiving observationInformation to compare before deciding the next action
A sealing or cosmetic face is damaged.Package condition, separation and protection, part identification and the agreed delivered-surface requirement.
A plastic fit measures differently after unpacking.Ordered grade, agreed conditioning, temperature, support and the original measurement locations.
Parts look alike but do not match the intended assembly.Package labels, part numbers, revisions, quantities and the approved mating configuration.

Keep the affected parts identifiable while the discrepancy is reviewed. These checks help separate transport damage, identification problems and a measurement-condition difference; they do not decide responsibility on their own. Send the relevant photographs and records against the order reference.
