Cast housings & structural enclosures
An open ribbed casting leaves little room for fixtures around the cavity and bores. Blank support and clamping must allow cutter access while preserving the relationship between finished mounting interfaces.

Support points around the open ribbed cavity
We review blank and finished models together for support areas, bore axes and mounting datums. Sections through the ribs and cavity are needed wherever access for a tool or gauge is restricted.
Ribs and deep cavities limit fixture contact. Bearing bores and mounting features need usable supports and shared locating references.

Clamping the housing while reaching its interior
An open ribbed casting can leave few places to support the part without blocking the cavity. We review the actual contact areas and stock condition to plan clamping and cutter access together.
Define the positional relationship of the finished bores and mounting faces across holding orientations. If the housing must be checked in a particular supported state, include that state in the inspection agreement.
The casting needs a locating, clamping and support plan for multi-axis milling and boring, with the agreed datums carried through every setup.
These are references for structural cast housings and enclosures. Your approved drawing defines the application.

Supply scope
Blank and finished models identify machining allowance and datum targets. The order sets the blank supplier, incoming acceptance, permitted variation, retained cast surfaces and responsibility for rejected blanks. Missing geometry needs a separate drawing-approval stage.
- Blank & interfacesControlled blank and finished-part models where available, casting alloy and condition, machining allowance, datum targets and blank-supply responsibility.
- Acceptance & orderBore alignment, mating-face and as-cast acceptance, required records and treatment, quantity and delivery destination.
